BYD to Launch Pakistan-Assembled EVs by Mid-2026 Amid Regional Demand Surge
Chinese electric vehicle leader BYD announced plans to commence local assembly in Pakistan by July-August 2026, targeting growing demand for plug-in hybrids and EVs in South Asia. The Karachi-based joint venture with Mega Motor Company will initially produce 25,000 units annually, with potential for right-hand-drive exports to neighboring markets.
The MOVE comes as BYD expands globally amid margin pressures in China's competitive EV market. Deliveries of imported BYD models began in Pakistan last March, with company executives expressing confidence in domestic demand absorbing initial production capacity.
